Dr. Adel Al-Wazeer is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Virginia. He received his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park, MD, USA. His PhD Dissertation is on Risk-based Bridge Maintenance Strategies. He is working as an assistant professor of civil engineering at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in Dubai. Before joining HCT, he worked at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Rutgers University, and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). He was part of the team that started the first stages of the Long-Term Bridge Performance (LTBP) Program that collects high-quality bridge data from representative samples of highway bridges across the United States to help the bridge community better understand bridge performance.
Dr. Al-Wazeer is a recipient of the International Road Federation (IRF) fellowship and the Eisenhower Grand for Research Fellowship (GRF). He worked in different research centers including Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC) in McLean, VA, Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT) at Rutgers University, Bridge Engineering Software & Technology (BEST) Center, and Center for Technology and Systems Management (CTSM) at the University of Maryland College Park. He participated in different conferences and workshops in Washington, DC; Buffalo, NY; Boston, MA; McLean, VA; Orlando, FL; Detroit, MI; Denver, CO; New Orleans, LA; Madison, WI, Baltimore, MD; Dubai, and Las Vegas, NV.
