Emmanuel Kofi Adanu, PhD., is an Associate Research Engineer with the Alabama Transportation Institute (ATI) at the University of Alabama. He has conducted extensive transport safety research in Alabama, Namibia and Ghana. His research efforts are primarily focused on identifying strategies that address various forms of transportation-related disparities in societies and promote sustainable development, particularly in developing countries. Dr. Adanu completed his undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. He subsequently earned Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering and Applied Statistics, as well as a Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama. He has been involved in many state and federal funded projects and has played a major role in a recently published policy report on addressing Alabama’s transportation infrastructure needs. He is a Louis Berger sponsored IRF fellow.
