John Peñuelas is Senior Director of Engineering for Streets and Highways for the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) and is a Las Vegas native.  His department is responsible for administering local funds collected with fuel and sales tax to the RTC’s six member agencies.
Prior to joining the RTC in 2015, John’s 25-year career included working as a survey technician for the Nevada Department of Transportation, as a traffic engineering technician for Clark County Public Works, and as a project engineer and traffic manager for the City of Henderson.
He is a graduate of the University of Arizona and is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management.
Professionally, he has been a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers since 1995, was licensed as a professional civil engineer in Nevada in 2004, and was certified as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer in 2005. Away from the office, John enjoys golf.
